Glitter

Stratford Circus cafe:
Glitter, gold and green, on
Brown skin
Smilingly shyly, she apologises
For her appearance
She is in a play, she explains

Later, on the bus:
Gold and green, on
Brown skin
Lips defiantly orange
Hair piled perfectly high
A loose strand tucked neatly away
With manicured hands
She does not apologise
For herself.

  1. I absolutely love this.

  2. I know (and appreciate) a good poem when I see one!
